An Aurora man is charged with attempted armed robbery of a pizza restaurant. Police say 21-year-old Sean Bastert was a regular customer of the restaurant on W. New York St. in downtown Aurora. They say he went in just after midnight on May 18th, pulled a gun on an employee and demanded money.

A plan to overhaul Illinois’s school funding formula has prevailed in the legislature. Lawmakers approved the plan to direct more dollars to the state’s neediest schools in the session’s final hours Wednesday. The measure advanced from the house to the senate and there received the necessary votes.
