Teens Cling to Tree in Fox River, Information Released for Illinois Pheasant Hunting, and Special School Funding Session Adjourned

Two teens clung to a tree and screamed for help after their raft overturned in the rain-swollen Fox River in North Aurora. The two 19-year-old women were near Lippold Park, where people could hear them Wednesday evening. Rescue crews launched a boat and got them out of the water.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is providing information to controlled pheasant hunters for the 2017-2018 hunting season. The department says hunters can now go online for information about the pheasant hunting season at 20 sites.

Illinois legislators adjourned day 2 of a special session on school funding after just minutes. The house and senate met briefly Thursday but didn’t take up any action. Governor Bruce Rauner summoned lawmakers with the task of resolving a fight over a new school funding calculation.
